Ernie Brandts

Ernie Brandts (born 3 February 1956 in Nieuw-Dijk, Gelderland) is a former Dutch football defender, who played for PSV Eindhoven and De Graafschap. He earned 28 caps and scored 5 goals for the Netherlands national football team, and played in the 1978 FIFA World Cup. In a second round match against Italy, he became the first (and only) player to score goals for both teams in the same match. He scored an own goal in the 18th minute, and then scored the equalizer for the Netherlands in the 50th minute. His teammate Arie Haan eventually scored the winning goal, giving the Netherlands a 2-1 win.

He is currently the head coach of NAC Breda, having previously coached FC Volendam.
