Ernest Austin Halliwell, sometimes known as Baberton Halliwell (born 7 September 1864 in Ealing, Middlesex, England, died 2 October 1919 in Johannesburg) was a cricketer, specifically a wicket-keeper, who played eight Test matches for South Africa between 1892 and 1902, including three as captain. He was one of the Wisden Cricketers of the Year in 1905. He is said to be the first wicket-keeper to protect his hands by putting raw steak in his gloves.
