Ernakulam (Malayalam : എറണാകുളം ) refers to the western part of the mainland of Kochi city in Kerala, India. Ernakulam is the most urbanised part of Kochi and has lent its name to Ernakulam District. The Office of the Corporation of Cochin is located here.The famous "Ernakulathappan Shiva Temple" is located in the city centre.

One of the reasons for the prosperity of Ernakulam according to legends is that the Pazhyannur Bhagavathi is lookingt straight at Ernakulam and it is believed that it's her vision that is helping Ernakulam in all fields to develop.
