Erinsville, Ontario
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Erinsville is a small hamlet located in southeastern Ontario, Canada, on Highway 41. It was founded by Irish settlers in the late 1600s[citation needed]. It is in the Stone Mills Township.
Erinsville is in many ways a quiet, low-key community. Its proximity to Beaver Lake (actually two lakes, Beaver Lake North and South) makes it an ideal summer home, and is host to several small cottage communities. The Erinsville area has both the natural beauty of forests and lakes, and is also surrounded by several family-operated farms.
Politically, the residents of Erinsville are neither predominantly conservative nor liberal, and tend to lean toward a balance of traditional values and acceptance.
Largely due to its low population, Erinville has only a few commercial business in operation. These include the Erinsville General Store, the Beaver Lake General Store and Gas Bar, the Lakeview Tavern and Restaurant, and to a lesser extent the Chip Truck. Several residents also run small businesses from home, such as bait shops.
Erinsville has, in the past, faced the possible installation of a large-scale pig farm. This factory farm had met much negative response from Erinsville's residents, and some residents who were against it had formed a committee.
With its Irish background, Erinville also is the site of the Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, a Roman Catholic Parish. Their website can be found at http://www3.sympatico.ca/clareriver.blueskies/Assumption.church.html.
