[edit] Big Brother 4

Erika Landin made her Big Brother debut in Season 4, having been one of 13 Houseguests chosen. She was one of the first eight to enter the house. Big Brother 4 was known for its unique twist, "The X-Factor." This twist meant that the other five Houseguests to join the game were all ex-partners of members of the first group. To her great displeasure, her ex-boyfriend Robert Roman was one of the five.

Despite their troublesome past, the two ended up finding a new friendship within the house, which was rumored by many to be a re-kindling of their relationship. This was later rebuffed when Erika announced she was dating Josh Souza, runner-up of Big Brother 1. Still, the two maintained a secretive alliance. Playing a quiet game, Erika lasted all the way until the Final Four, where Robert won HoH. Robert didn't nominate Erika, but instead Alison Irwin and Jun Song. When Alison won the Veto, however, she gained the ability to choose between Jun and Erika for eviction. She voted to evict Erika, as she felt Erika would be difficult to beat.

[edit] Big Brother: All-Stars

Erika Landin was announced as one of the 20 Houseguests eligible to enter the Big Brother House. After a public vote, it was announced that she was one of the four women chosen by America to re-enter the house. Erika faced mild animosity early on, as there were some Houseguests who felt Erika's stint on Big Brother 4 didn't merit a spot on the All-Star season.

True to her original strategy, Erika played a very quiet, non-confrontational game, forming strong connections with a number of contestants in the house. Another contestant, Marcellas Reynolds, dubbed Erika an "Amber Alert." This is, of course, a direct reference to Amber Mariano, winner of Survivor: All-Stars. Because Amber also played under-the-radar and even went on to win, Marcellas felt that Erika should be closely watched.

Despite Marcellas' fears, Erika evaded nomination for the first three weeks, maintaining her connections with several of the alliances within the house. Her first nomination occurred on Week 4, when HoH Janelle chose to nominate Erika as a pawn. As planned, Erika was spared from eviction. This became a regular pattern in the Big Brother house throughout the subsequent weeks, with Erika facing nomination a total of 6 times.

Erika nearly won two Head of Household competitions during her run on Big Brother: All-Stars. The first occurred on week 6 but, due to technical difficulties that may have damaged the challenge's integrity, the competition was re-run, with Janelle emerging as winner instead. She finally won a Head of Household competition on Week 8, in which she hoped to eliminate Janelle, but ultimately was persuaded to eliminate fellow contestant Danielle Reyes. The argument that ensued was one of the season's more memorable moments.

Perhaps because the general consensus on Erika's gameplay was relatively critical, Erika was chosen over Janelle to join Mike Malin in the Final Two. Throughout the season, Erika and Mike had shared a romantic relationship, with Mike's intention being to play Erika out the door. This was eventually dubbed a "showmance" by contestant Will Kirby, who collaborated with Mike in this process. The final verdict was near-unanimous (6-1) against Erika, as most of the jury members felt strongly that she had done nothing to deserve the title of Big Brother Champion. Only Marcellas Reynolds chose to vote for Erika.
