Erik Hoftun (born March 3, 1969 in Kyrksæterøra) is a Norwegian football (soccer) player.

Hoftun started his career at KIL/Hemne before moving to Molde F.K. in 1992. He then moved to Rosenborg B.K. in 1994, where he has won the league championship every year since. Hoftun has been a key player for Rosenborg in the Norwegian league and the UEFA Champions League.

At his best, Hoftun was one of the best central defenders in Europe, with superb anticipation and offensive qualites. However, his bad side was the lack of speed. For Norway, he has been capped 30 times and played in the 1998 World Cup, but he has retired from international level.

In 2005 Hoftun moved to Bodø/Glimt where his new club finished last and was relegated. After the relegation, Hoftun was approached by his former club Rosenborg about rejoining them, this time as an assistant manager. But Hoftun stayed at Glimt where, in the 2006 season, he will act as player and manager.
