American Intelligence office.
Immigrated, for non-political reasons, to the USA in 1932, received a Ph.D. in German Literature from the Johns Hopkins University in 1941, and was engaged by American Intelligence in London shortly thereafter. He later became a Professor of German at Tulane University and the University of Kansas.
