[edit] Biography
Born Pete Karjanen on December 10 in Sweden; York was raised in Finland. He has lived in Athens, Greece, Miami, Florida, London, England, and currently resides in Los Angeles, California. "Discovered" at a Santa Monica gay nightclub by a gay porn talent scout, he began working in porn under the name "Eric Finn", but his agent, David Forest, changed it to Eric York. In an interview with the Tom of Finland Foundation, York remarked on his real name: "I'm proud of it, but it is so hard for people to remember, spell or just even say it. Eric York is an easy way out. I mean I totally understand why Touko Laaksonen was changed to Tom of Finland."[1]
Among York's favorite things are Italian food, techno/dance music, Stephen King's writing and Colin Farrell's acting. His favorite movie is Brokeback Mountain and his favorite television show is The Simpsons. He considers the Tom of Finland men to be his role models; they are what he wants to be and inspire him to work out more at the gym.[1]
York has appeared in more than 70 films from gay porn to Playboy TV's softcore films. He has been featured on the cover of the Magazine of Male Icons and many adult gay magazines, and local community news magazines or digests. Some of the adult titles include Mandate, Torso magazine and Jock Magazine; he has also appeared in Vogue with a supermodel Nicky Taylor and more than once on the cover of QX Magazine (London's largest gay publication), and Frontiers (Southern California's largest publication serving the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender communities).
York has also done personal appearances and performances at gay nightclubs; he has also modelled clothing and is a certified personal trainer. In 1996, he received Adam Gay Video Guide's award for best versatile performer (cast in both top and bottom roles).[2]
Although his latest film release was in 2005, it is widely believed that York has retired from the industry.
