Eric Cortez Wright (born April 18, 1959 in St. Louis, Missouri), was a former American professional football player who was selected by the San Francisco 49ers in the 2nd round of the 1981 NFL Draft. A 6'1", 183 lbs. cornerback from the University of Missouri, Wrights played in 10 NFL seasons and spent his entire career with the 49ers from 1981-1990.
A two-time Pro Bowler, Wright's peak performance year was during the 1983 season when he intercepted 7 passes for 164 yards and 2 touchdowns. He was a four-time Super Bowl winner with the 49ers, one of only a few NFL players to claim that feat. He recorded an interception in Super Bowl XVI and Super Bowl XIX.
Wright is a member of Alpha Phi Alpha, the first intercollegiate Greek-letter fraternity established for African Americans.[1]
