Eric Scheibeler
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Eric Scheibeler is a former Amway/Quixtar Independent Business Owner. As an IBO at the Emerald level, Scheibeler claims he and his wife were only earning a net annual income of approximately $30,000 a year (i.e. after expenses). He claims that when he began to ask questions, he fell from grace with his upline Diamond executive, Fred Harteis, and was eventually forced out of his business after Amway suspended his income. He recorded his story in his book Merchants of Deception, which he has made available as a free download.
Scheibeler joined the Amway business in 1989. Together with his wife Patty, he qualified for Direct and Ruby pins in 1991, Pearl in 1992 and Emerald in 1994, according to the Amway Amagram publication of November 1994[citation needed]. Amway terminated the distributorships of the Scheibelers in 1999[citation needed].
In 2000 Eric Scheibeler took his allegations to court, suing Amway and his upline Fred Harteis claiming fraud. The court referred the case to arbitration and later reviewed and confirmed the confidential results[citation needed]. Quixtar claims that Scheibeler “chose not to appeal the court’s ruling and instead embarked on a smear campaign.”[citation needed]
Eric Scheibeler claims that he received death threats from a Diamond distributor in the Amway business. He issued a public clarification that he did not receive the death threat from Amway itself, nor from Dick DeVos. He further claims that his wife and son received death threats on phone from unknown sources.[1]
