Eric Davis (born January 26, 1968 in Anniston, Alabama), was a former professional football player who was drafted by the San Francisco 49ers in the 2nd round of the 1990 NFL Draft. A 5'11", 185 lbs. cornerback from Jacksonville State University, Davis played in 13 NFL seasons from 1990-2002. He became an unsung hero in the 1994 NFC Championship Game versus the Dallas Cowboys when he made two key plays early in the game. First, a 44 yard interception return for a touchdown on the game's third play from scrimmage, and a forced fumble on Michael Irvin that led to another 49ers touchdown. These plays helped the 49ers beat the previous 2-time champion Cowboys to advance to Super Bowl XXIX. The 49ers would go on to beat the San Diego Chargers 49-26. In 1996, he became a free agent and signed with the Carolina Panthers, helping them reach the NFC Title game only to lose to eventual Super Bowl Champions Green Bay Packers. In 2002, he ended his career with the Detroit Lions.
