Spoiler warning: Plot and/or ending details follow.

Eric is looking for a job while Donna's parents go away for the weekend. She invites (just) Eric to come over but he is so distracted that he does not notice her hitting on him. Kelso blind to Donna's invitation just to Eric encourages her to have a toga party, which she agrees to. All four guys go over to Fatso Burger for an interview and after some interesting responses Ricky decides to give Eric the job.

After hearing Kelso didn't get the job and Eric did Jackie realizes she can't have the future she wants if Kelso keeps acting like a screw up. But she hopes he'll wisen up because she exclaims, "I'm in love with a doofus."

Bob and Midge leave town but before doing so, they leave Eric in charge of taking care of Donna. Since Eric is working late, Donna and him arrange to meet up at her house by signalling her presence in the house with the porch light. Eric seems depressed with the job and thinks twice about quitting because he doesn't want to disappoint Red. Donna is depressed at the party and leaves to go to Fatso Burger and see Eric and tell him how she wanted to spend time alone with him. After his shift, Eric leaves and heads to Donna's house just to find Bob and Midge back. He pretends to have come just to advise Bob to turn off the light. Bob thanks him and leaves. Eric wishes goodnight and Donna whispers "Goodnight Eric.".

Eric talks to Red and tells him he's quitting expecting disappointment. Red tells him that everyone quits their first job and it really wasn't a man's job anyways. He then goes to work the next day and after hearing from Ricky how he got to be where he is he quits.
