December 8, 1976, 3:18 PM. Eric is getting out of school and handing his new chemistry lab partner, Buddy, some notes when he sees him getting into a red Trans-Am. Buddy invites him to go for a ride and Eric jumps on the opportunity and they drive off. Unfortunately for Hyde and Kelso that means their ride is gone so they stand in the cold a little bit and then have to walk home which really upsets Hyde while worrying Kelso. Eric & Buddy stop by the Hub to see Donna, Fez, and Jackie. When Jackie sees them together she's proud of the fact that Eric has made a clique breach, hanging out with someone cool.

Everyone is hanging out in the basement watching Gilligan's Island when Hyde and Kelso come home. They're upset at Eric, but it's more apparent that Hyde dislikes Buddy because he is way more well off than him. Later at the Hub, Donna, Kelso, and Hyde are hanging out wondering where Eric could be. Eric is spending a lot of time with Buddy doing things like playing pinball, playing basketball, buying stuff, and doing chemistry experiments.

Eric and Buddy are coming out of a movie and get into the car not knowing what they're going to do next. Eric tells Buddy he forgot to call Donna and Buddy asks him if they're in a relationship. Eric stutters on it and shows his confusion, but Buddy thought it was a different kind of confusion and kisses him. Eric is shocked and pushes him away and exclaims that he's not gay.

Right when Eric comes home the first thing he does is kiss Donna and everyone is shocked. Hyde tells him that he's shocked because he doesn't know where the hell he's been. Donna asks where Buddy is and Eric tells her he got busy. Jackie notes once again that he's popular and Fez says that he's gay which makes Eric uncomfortable. Later Hyde and Donna ask Eric in private if he's gay and Eric hints that it's not his place to say so. Eric hints that Buddy made a move on him shocking them and leaves.

Meanwhile Red is having trouble in his new job at Bargain Bob's appliance store. A customer comes in ready to buy a refrigerator. The customer doesn't know what kind of refrigerator to get but prefers harvest gold to which Red tells her he can't sell her something she doesn't know anything about, so she leaves. He scares another customer away telling her to think, but Bob saves the sale. Later Red tells his frustration to Kitty and tells her he's going to quit so Kitty initiates a role playing session with a blender. She shows interest in it, so Red says all the reasons he got it which Kitty says she didn't know any of those things. She tells Red that when she goes to buy something she doesn't know anything about it except maybe the color she wants. Red is shocked to hear that customers don't usually research the products they buy and Kitty tells them that's why they need him to make the right choice. The next day he suggests a mix master, describes it to the customer, then asks her what color she'd prefer, and she buys it telling him that he's the most helpful salesmen she's ever encountered, thus making his first sale. The show ends with Red and Bob acting like best friends.
