Erhard Schmidt

Erhard Schmidt (January 13, 1876 – December 6, 1959) was a German mathematician born in Dorpat (now Tartu, Estonia). His advisor was David Hilbert and he was awarded his doctorate at Gottingen in 1905.
Together with David Hilbert he is considered to be one of the founders of modern abstract functional analysis.
