Thats a very interesting DYK you submitted. I saw this being performed in China once and it was really unbelievable. -- Lost(talk) 19:59, 31 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] "Just a Theory"

I've written some of this already on the evolution talk page. In the world of natural science, where mathematics and physics are the foundations of models of the natural world - a model stands or falls on its own merit, and not upon the pejorative of the day. These days, those with a religious bent use "theory" to denigrate ideas like evolution, hot nucleosynthesis, and some even have problems with the fundamentals of electromagnetism (there are entire websites created by religious extremists arguing that the speed of light is not constant when Maxwell's Equations clearly show that it must be.) It's best to not get frustrated with such individuals, especially on these talk pages, but rather to focus your energy on improving the articles here at Wikipedia. With persistence, and patience, we can make quality articles that reflect the various natural sciences as they currently stand and perhaps in time people will come to understand that when a scientific idea is elevated past a thesis to the status of theory, it is one new discovery or experiment short of natural law. Remember that we have mathematics and physics to lean on, for upon these the religious debates coursing through the science articles here on Wiki do not. I am a scientist myself and if you ever need a pointer for a good reference or peer-reviewed source on a subject I'd be glad to point you in the right direction. Have fun editing!
