[edit] Albums
Album | Album Cover | Date of release | Description |
---|---|---|---|
Pop-U! | 1991
(Recorded at UP Diliman) |
The "1st ever indie album in Philippine music history"[citation needed]. Songs later released in their more popular albums such as Tindahan Ni Aling Nena, Toyang, Scorpio Rising, Pare Ko, Milk And Money and Wishing Wells were included in this album as well as 6 unreleased tracks. While not as good as later albums, a lot of the bands 70's music influence can clearly be seen in this album. | |
UltraElectroMagneticPop! | 1993 | The name of the album is a play on the technique "Ultra Electro Magnetic Top!" from the Japanese 1970's cartoon cult classic, Voltes V (Voltes Five). This album is the only one where the songs are the result of jamming sessions. Famous songs include Toyang, Pare Ko, Tindahan Ni Aling Nena, Maling Akala and Ligaya. | |
Circus | 1994 | One of the most popular albums they ever recorded 2nd to Cutterpillow. This album is known for the controversial Alapaap and as well as their famous love song, With A Smile. Sembreak, Minsan and Magasin' are also included in this album! Kailan is based on the play Manhid! The song from the Blockbuster film Wating! (Wating) is also in the album. | |
Cutterpillow | 1995 | One of the biggest albums in the history of Philippine music. Churned out one of their biggest hits, Ang Huling El Bimbo, which won them the Best Video Award in the MTV Asian Music Awards. Other hits like Huwag Mo Nang Itanong, Torpedo, Superproxy and Overdrive were also part of this album. | |
Fruitcake (EP) | 1996 | This album contains the band's well-known Christmas song Fruitcake. and their own version of Christmas Alphabet | |
Fruitcake | 1996 | A Christmas concept album following up the EP of the same name. The record tells the story of a runaway girl who stumbles upon the village Fruitcake Heights. Hits include Fruitcake and Trip To Jerusalem. | |
Bananatype (EP) | 1997 | This album contains the song Harana (not to be confused with the Parokya ni Edgar song of the same name), Tikman (which was used to a commercial of Burger Machine) and Policewoman (which should have been part of the sound track of Joey De Leon's Run Barbie Run but was not used by Regal Films). | |
Sticker Happy | 1997 | This album was notable for the heavy usage of samples and synthesizers, which the members of the band purchased in the United States during a concert tour. The songs in this album tend to be surreal in nature; two of them alluded to artworks: Spoliarium was named after the Juan Luna painting; however, the song was about alcoholism. Another song, Andalusian Dog, alluded to the film Un chien andalou by the Spanish surrealist director Luis Buñuel. Other hits include Kaliwete and Para Sa Masa. | |
Aloha Milkyway | 1998 | This album was the Eraserheads' first international release, in response to their success in the 1997 MTV Video Music Awards in New York. Composed mostly of previously-released English tracks, it also featured Ang Huling El Bimbo, the video of which won the group the Asian Viewer's Choice Award the previous year. | |
Natin99 | 1999 | The band's 8th album contains the songs Maselang Bahaghari and Huwag Kang Matakot. | |
Carbon Stereoxide | 2001 | The last Eraserheads album with Ely Buendia on vocals before Kris Dancel took his place. Includes the song "Hula" and "Maskara". 'Maskara' was the last music video made by the Eraserheads. | |
Please Transpose (EP) | 2003 | The last official recording of the Eraserheads. Features Kris Dancel (of the all-girl group "Fatal Posporos") on vocals, replacing Buendia who abruptly left the group. A few months later, due to legal issues surrounding their name, the group adopted the monicker "Cambio". |
