Equant (France Télécom)

Equant (now Orange Business Services ) is a subsidiary of France Télécom and provides network and information technology business services in over 220 countries and territories. France Telecom acquired a majority stake of 54% in it in 2000 by merging its Global One unit into it. In 2005, France Telecom made a bid for all outstanding Equant stock and thus fully acquired it. Prior the acquisition by France Télécom Equant was part of the SITA group of companies. SITA provides network services to the air transport industry through a strategic agreement with France Télécom and Equant.
As of the 1st June 2006, "Orange Business Services" is the new name for Equant and the business operations of France Télécom and Orange SA in the global market.
