Talk:Epiphone Casino
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
I removed the part about Noel Gallagher's Supernova because it has nothing to do with the Epiphone Casino.
[edit] Revolution Casino
The article states that John Lennon's Casino sanding of the sunburst finish, removal of the pickguard, replacement of tuner gear and replacement of the neck pickup volume knob happened during the White Album recording sessions, while it actually happened during a large year span.
Pickguard: George Harrison's Casino and McCartney's Höfner are first seen without their respective pickguards during the US part of the 1966 world tour. Lennon's Casino is still with the pickguard (alas with a japanese yen coin tied to the headstock). By february 1967 his Casino is seen without its pickguard during Sgt. Pepper sessions.
Finish: for the satellite broadcast of "All You Need Is Love" all four Beatles had painted their guitars with psychedelic colours, and Lennon's Casino was no exception. By may 1968 the trend was sanding the guitars to natural and, except Harrison's strat, Lennon had his Casino sanded, as stated in the article.
Black volume knob: In january 1969 the Casino can be seen in the Apple rooftop performance. The volume knob already being replaced but the tuner gear is still the original Kluson. This can be seen in the "Let It Be" movie. There is a close caption of Lennon's Casino headstock when he is straping it on before the rooftop performance.
Grover tuners: During the "Imagine" sessions (1971), Lennon is seen grabing his Casino before recording "How Can You Sleep?". The tuners are still Klusons. The guitar now sports the Grover tuners, so assumption must be made that the replacement happened in the 9 year gap between "Imagine" and Lennon's death.
