Epeli Kanakana

Ratu Epeli Kanakana is a Fijian chief. He holds the title of Tui Suva, and is the traditional ruler of the area that includes the city of Suva, the nation's capital. The title of Tui Suva is only kept within the Naivutuvutu family of the Tokatoka Solia of Mataqali Vuanimocelolo of the Yavusa Vatuwaqa.
He appeared in court on 31 August 2005 on charges of misappropriating funds and of forging the signatures of members of his clan in the village of Suvavou, which receives rent money from several areas in the city of Suva as well as near Lami, in order to get money from their land leases. He has protested his innocence.
