Eol the Dark Elf is thrown to his death from the walls of Gondolin for the attempted murder of his son Maeglin, and the resulting death of his estranged wife Aredhel. By Ted Nasmith.

The image was made by a well-known illustrator of Tolkien's works.
In August 2006, Ted Nasmith gave permission for his artworks to be used via e-mail exchange with a member of a related Wikiproject, Wikiproject Middle-earth. See [1]
The image is at much lower resolution than the original (75% smaller), and therefore of less quality.
The image will and should only be used for informational purposes for these articles: Eöl.
The image does not limit the copyright owner's rights to sell the originals or prints in any way.
Its inclusion will add significantly to the articles because it illustrates one of the scenes from Silmarillion featuring the subjects of those articles.
