Enzo Avitabile

Enzo Avitabile (born 1955 in Naples, Italy) is an Italian saxophonist. He plays a fusion of World music and jazz fusion music.
He tours with his band, going under the name of Enzo Avitabile and Bottari. Bottari is a traditional rhythm from south Italy. It involves the "wine barrels", wooden drums, etc. Avitabile keeps the Bottari culture in mind while experimenting with fusion Jazz (sax, trumpets, etc).

- In the past he has collaborated with James Brown and Tina Turner.
- In 1988, Avitabile's track "Black Out" became a club anthem in Ibiza and is now considered one of the original Balearic dance classics; the track was a precursor to the so-called world music explosion a year later.
- Along with Bottari, he was nominated for the presitgious 'Audience Award' in the 2005 BBC Awards for World Music.
