Environmental Transport Association

The Environmental Transport Association is a United Kingdom breakdown and road rescue company, but unlike the Automobile Association or RAC plc which are perceived as pro-car, the ETA aims to raise awareness of the impact of excessive car use and help individuals and organisations to make positive changes in their travel habits.

The ETA was started in 1992. It conducts and commissions research into environmental transport issues. It actively lobbys government and key-decision makers to discuss new thinking in environmental transport. They claim to be the world's first climate-neutral motoring organisation.

The ETA are the world's first climate-neutral motoring organisation, which means that we are offsetting the carbon emissions of our organisation. The ETA started Green Transport Week in 1992 which aims to demonstrate how we can all reduce our dependency on cars. In addition, the ETA inaugurated National Car Free Day held on 22nd September every year. The ETA produces a Car Buyers Guide annually for people greener vehicles.
