Enterprise, Northwest Territories

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Enterprise is a settlement[1] in the South Slave Region of the Northwest Territories, Canada. It is located between Great Slave Lake and the Alberta border on the Hay River.

It is at an important junction of the Mackenzie Highway and the road to Yellowknife and was established when two service stations were built to take advantage of traffic along these highways. It has since grown to include a cargo station, restaurants, and a motel to accommodate travelers. Most of the traffic on the highway continues on to the nearby town of Hay River, however.

Entreprise's Greyhound Lines of Canada station is a major transfer point for people travelling south from Yellowknife to Hay River or Alberta, and people travelling north from Alberta to Hay River or Yellowknife.

Population is 61 according to the 2001 Census.[2]
