Enola, Pennsylvania

Enola is a census-designated place (CDP) located along the Susquehanna River in East Pennsboro Township, Cumberland County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 5,627 at the 2000 census. Norfolk Southern operates a large classification yard and locomotive shop in Enola. It is a suburb of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.

Enola sprang into existence with the building the rail lines, that run through the town. The name "Enola" comes from the name of a rail worker's daughter. The worker was the first to bring his family to town giving him the honor of naming the town.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 4.8 km² (1.9 mi²), all land.

As of the censusGR2 of 2000, there were 5,627 people, 2,392 households, and 1,459 families residing in the CDP. The population density was 1,168.1/km² (3,018.9/mi²). There were 2,514 housing units at an average density of 521.9/km² (1,348.8/mi²). The racial makeup of the CDP was 95.93% White, 0.89% African American, 0.21% Native American, 0.87% Asian, 0.44% from other races, and 1.65% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.48% of the population.
