Enid Markey

Enid Markey (born February 22, 1894 in Dillon, Colorado, died November 15, 1981 in Bayshore, Long Island, New York) was an American actress most famous for originating the role of Jane in films. She played the character twice in 1918, first in Tarzan of The Apes, then in that film's sequel The Romance of Tarzan.
Her first film role was in The Fortunes of War in 1911. Her last appearance was in the 1968 film The Boston Strangler. During the 1950s and 1960s she appeared in several television guest-starring roles, including, among others, The Andy Griffith Show as Barney Fife's landlady and an episode of Gomer Pyle, U.S.M.C. as Grandma Pyle.
