The English cricket seasons from 1890 to 1914 are widely known as The Golden Age of Cricket. This "Golden Age" was ended abruptly by the outbreak of the First World War and the 1914 season was not fully completed.
But, as described in 1915 to 1918 English cricket seasons, great efforts were made to keep the game alive during the war, ready for the restart of normal fixtures in 1919.
