End Poverty Now
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
End Poverty Now (EPN) is an NGO with the goal of ending poverty on a global scale. It was founded in Montreal in 2006 by a group of students from McGill University in Montreal, Canada. Despite supporting Make Poverty History's campaign, End Poverty Now is not associated in any way with Make Poverty History.
End Poverty Now advocates a "three-pillar" approach in accomplishing its goal: awareness, grassroots redistribution and development projects, and lobbying.
The organization facilitates numerous awareness activities, volunteer opportunities, scholarships, internships, fundraising initiatives, and various educational and informational publications.
2007 marks only the second year EPN has been in existence, and it is currently shaping up to be a big year for the organization, with numerous events such as a speaking series, benefit concerts, a photography exhibition, a food drive and numerous local and global volunteer activities and internships.
End Poverty Now was recently featured on CBC radio in Montreal and recognized as a 'Noise Maker 2007' in the Montreal Mirror.
