Encyclopedia of African History
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Encyclopedia of African History is a three-volume work that has information on just about anything to do with African history. It was edited by Kevin Shillington. It was published in New York, by Fitzroy Dearborn, in 2005. It is only available in print in the UO library catalog although there is an online table of contents available. Like most encyclopedias, it is arranged alphabetically. It does include illustrations and maps. It also includes a bibliographical reference section and an index. The Library of Congress subjects for this work are Africa--History--Encyclopedias. It really covers all kinds of subjects such as: economics, sociology, political science, military science, ethnic studies, etc... It is available for in-library use only so you can't check it out. Since this encyclopedia was published in 2005 it is fairly up to date. This work really has a broad number of entries so you can find a lot in here. It has everything from a particular country's history to slavery all over the continent of Africa. This would definitely provide useful information for anyone who is doing research on anything African. It has a little bit of everything.
