[edit] Spoken article quality assessment

Technical quality: Medium
- This recording has been encoded to Ogg Vorbis at 96 kb/s, not 48 kb/s per recording guidelines. Reducing the "Quality" setting to minimum when encoding to Ogg Vorbis will usually achieve 48 kb/s. The result will be very little loss in voice quality, but a significant decrease in file size, which is important for ease of downloading and other reasons.
- Clearly audible processing artifacts throughout, giving the voice a metallic, artificial quality and mildly reducing the clarity. A common cause of this is the use of noise reduction to remove constant background noise (e g computer fan noise) from the recording. This works well if the background noise is not too intrusive, but at higher noise levels often produces unwanted artifacts. The best solution is to prevent the background noise getting to the microphone as much as possible while you're recording, so the noise removal process doesn't have to work so hard later. Alternatively, if you still have a copy of the original, unprocessed recording, try processing it with a reduced noise reduction setting (if that's what the source of the artifacts is) to get a balance between reduced artifacts and (hopefully) only slightly increased background noise.
Clarity: High
- With the caveat mentioned above.
Accuracy: High
- Minor omission: Section "Extracurricular activities/Sports": "teams that compete in the Public Schools Athletic League (PSAL)". It would help listeners if the initialism were read out here so that it can be more easily associated with its meaning, enabling subsequent references to it to be more readily understood.
- Minor omission: "with the Hunter Girls Varsity Volleyball team's defeat of JFK High School".
