From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Empress Xiao Lie Wu (Chinese: 孝烈武皇后乌喇纳拉氏; Private name: Lady Abahai Chinese: 阿巴亥) 1590 - 1626 was of the Manchu Ulanara clan. Ulanara was the daughter of Prince Mantai of a tribe of the Hulun nation and grand-daughter of Wangtai, Khan of the Hada.
Ulanara originally was a high-ranking Concubine of Nurhaci who was Emperor of the Manchu, Jin Dynasty in ancient China. Ulanara married Nurhaci in 1602, when she was only twelve years old. After the death of Empress Xiao Ci Gao (the natural birth mother of Emperor Hong Taiji) in 1603, Ulanara was granted the title of "Da Fei", meaning "Grand Concubine" (大妃).
Ulanara was also the birth mother of Princes Dorgon (多尔衮) (1612 - 1650), Dodo (多铎) (1614 - 1649), and Ajige (阿济格) (1605 - 1651). Ulanara was forced to commit suicide by her stepsons, including Hong Taiji who thought that she might be a barrier to his succession. Ulanara died in 1626, aged thirty-seven.
Ulanara's full posthumous title is
- "Empress Xiao Lie Gong Min Xian Zhe Ren He Zan Tian Li Sheng Wu"
- (Chinese: 孝烈恭敏献哲仁和赞天俪圣武皇后)
The posthumous title of Empress Xiao Lie Wu was given to Abahai by her son Dorgun but the title was demoted after the death of him.
