Emerging nation
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Emerging nation is the term given to a large number of newly independent African, Middle Eastern, and Asian nations in the 1960s. These were on the whole socialist in their governmental makeup and were supported in varying degrees by the Soviet Union and the People's Republic of China.
The term also applied to various ideologies making headway in older nations, such as the Arab Nationalism espoused by Egyptian President Gamal Abdel Nasser.
