Embryonic yolk stalk

Embryonic yolk stalk is also called vitelline duct (vitelline intestinal duct) or just yolk stalk. It is found in an embryo which connect parts of the midgut to the yolk sac. Normally this stalk would obliterate. However, if it does not, an abnormal condition known as Merkel's diverticulum will occur.
