Elvis Hammond (born October 6, 1980 in Accra, Ghana) is a Ghanaian-born English-representative striker who currently plays football for Leicester City in the English Coca-Cola Championship.

Born in Ghana, the frontman has exceptional pace and made an immediate impact coming on as sub in the first three games of the 2005/06 season. Hammond, who had been with the Cottagers since the age of 16, will cost Leicester up to £350,000. Initially signed on a five-month loan deal from Fulham, Leicester City secured the services of Elvis Hammond permanently on transfer deadline day in August 2005.

His inability to stay onside during a game is often grumbled by Leicester fans who tire of his laziness and inability to play football.

Hammond is a product of the Fulham Academy. He made his debut for Fulham 19 September 2000 against Chesterfield at the Recreation Ground. Hammond looked to have made his break into the first team towards the end of the 2002-2003 season, under Chris Coleman, only to have an injury put him out for the rest of that season. At the beginning of the 2003/04 season, he spent a month on loan at Norwich City FC. He joined Dutch Eredivisie side RBC Roosendaal on loan in January 2005, before he transferred to Leicester City from Fulham for a fee of £225,000 in September 2005.

He made his first start for Leicester City in the 2-2 draw at Crewe, hitting a post late on in the game, and kept his place for the subsequent Carling Cup tie at Bury F.C., which they won 3-0.

First team opportunities were limited for Hammond at Fulham where he made just 13 appearances - only three of which were from the start - and he had loan spells with Bristol Rovers and Norwich before spending time in Holland.

He scored twice in 14 matches for RBC Roosendaal, who played in the the Dutch Eredivisie - -the top division of Dutch football.

Elvis grabbed his first City goal in the 2-1 home defeat at the hands of QPR in September 2005. He was also on target in the 3-2 victory over Tottenham Hotspur in the FA Cup third round tie later that season. He got off for mark for the 2006-07 Championship campaign in the 1-1 draw with Birmingham City at St Andrews.

He recently gained his first cap for his beloved Ghana against Mexico on 1 March 2006 in a Pre-2006 FIFA World Cup International friendly.

As a footballer, he has always been highly regarded for his pace. However, his first touch often let him down. Gareth Williams (a former team-mate at Leicester) was once heard to remark 'he can control it further than I can kick it'.
