Elvis Cole
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Elvis Cole is a fictional character in many of Robert Crais' detective novels. He is a fun-loving Los Angeles detective. Elvis is of that rare breed of private detective, he's honest, straight forward, and a sucker for a woman in trouble. Elvis Cole is a throwback to an earlier age, at least the in earlier novels, which read like 1930's and 1940's pulp magazine detective stories. [1] Elvis's training consists of time as an Army Ranger, service in Vietnam, and as a security guard. Elvis is also well versed in the martial arts, among them Tae kwon do and tai chi. Elvis drives a classic 1966 "Jamaica yellow" Corvette Stingray convertible that is almost a character unto itself in the early novels, as well as his trademark Hawaiian shirts. Elvis prefers to carry a Dan Wesson .38 revolver in a shoulder holster for protection.
Elvis lives in Los Angeles on Woodrow Wilson Drive along with his pet cat. The cat usually has a terrible disposition, but is the only animal that seems able to tolerate Elvis.
His partner is Joe Pike, a USMC veteran from the Vietnam War and a former LAPD officer.
