[edit] another side

Is there another side to this story? Gene Ward Smith 07:27, 7 June 2006 (UTC)

I think a link to the judgement where she was disbarred would be appropriate here

http://www.sconet.state.oh.us/rod/newpdf/0/2003/2003-ohio-4756.pdf

Note however that the opinion from the Ohio Supreme Court does not include a single citation to US Sureme Court legal authority for the action taken; i.e the taking of a property right for criticizing public officials. This decision is an affront to the First Amendment and the right of every citizen including lawyers to comment freely on matters of government without retaliation.

Yes there is another side. Originally posted by Torturous Devastating Cudgel. http://www.clevescene.com/Issues/2006-05-03/news/feature_full.html Both sides of the story are pretty unbelievable. --Arm 08:19, 12 September 2006 (UTC)

  • In the spirit of being bold, I'm going to incorporate a lot of information from the Cleveland Scene article here. If I go too far, we'll balance it out later BB 05:35, 14 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] This is not NPOV

I added an Npov tag and explained why in the edit summary. The article is written from the point of view of a defender of Dr. Baumgartner. It should instead have one section that explains what defenders of her believe, and another section that explains what attackers of her believe.

This page has a serious problem with verifiability. Almost all the sources come from the "North Country Gazette." I've read around the site and it does not look like a very authoritarian source.

The North Country Gazette is consistently picked up by Google News on topics of Ohio public corruption. World Net Daily also cites the publication.

So this page definetly needs some reliable, non-biased sources. Otherwise, it should be put up for WP:AFD. --Arm 16:37, 7 July 2006 (UTC)

Perhaps you mean authoritative source? But I agree with you; the article lacks NPOV, verifiability, and consequently credibility. Can it be salvaged as is, or is a re-write necessary? 64.178.101.32 17:43, 26 July 2006 (UTC)

To my mind, this article should start with the factual account. She stated this, she was charged with that, her allegations were supported/refuted by the other. Once the facts are established, the issues pro & con can be raised. Right now, the thing this article is most lacking is that factual basis. Without it, the pro & con arguments would hover somewhere between advocacy & speculation. --Ssbohio 01:18, 30 July 2006 (UTC)

Her website www.erievoices.com which included primary source material was shut down on Feb 1, 2006 after the government raided her home and seized all her computer records dating back over 5 years. The time line link is taken from that old site. There are many newspaper accounts concerning the raid, but to date her legal records have not been returned to her. See www.cuyahogacounty.us criminal docket.

[edit] Tragically ludicrous

This woman is insane, and I don’t mean that as a slam, but she needs some serious mental help. [1] I am going to list this for an AFD. Torturous Devastating Cudgel 16:14, 2 August 2006 (UTC)

Double-doctorate Elsebeth Baumgartner is the most sane and upstanding woman I have ever come across.
In an insane world, the sanest of people are often thought of as crazy.--209.208.77.143 16:49, 10 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] I removed the following

I removed the following unreferenced sentences /web blogs sites:

Note that Dr. Baumgartner isn't being accused of making threats to aggress against anyone, but that the intimidation and retaliation charges directly refer to her accusations of corruption on the part of Ohio government officials.

[edit] What were her charges?

I ran across an article on Dr. Baumgartner and came here looking for more info - what accusations did she make against the Ohio judiciary? There should be something more specific than "corruption".

  • Never mind - the article linked above ("The Pest") provided a lot more info. I expanded the page BB 06:50, 14 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Free on Bail?

The article currently states this lady is free on bail where http://www.northcountrygazette.org/articles/090706JusticeDenied.html says she has been held since Aug w/o trial. Ilrosewood 09:11, 14 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Comments on External links

The external links section of this page is very bad. Firstly, many are links to Google cache. These are now broken, so I will remove these.

The Cleveland Scene site is also dead right now. If it is down for good, these need to be removed.

Finally, there are links to Greg Szymanski's Arctic Beacon website. As far as I can tell, this is a hoax news website. Almost nothing from this site is verifiable or even very plausible. I would strongly support removing all links to this site, and will do so unless there is a persuasive objection.

I should say at this point that I strongly doubt the accuracy of this article as its stands. My first concern, however, is to clean up the 'external links' section. - Crosbiesmith 12:03, 21 October 2006 (UTC)
