From Wikipedia:Copyrights - All original Wikipedia text is distributed under the GFDL. Occasionally, Wikipedia articles may include images, sounds, or text quotes used under the U.S. Copyright law "fair use" doctrine. It is preferred that these be obtained under the most free (libre) license (such as the GFDL or public domain) practical. In cases where no such images/sounds are currently available, then fair use images are acceptable (until such time as free images become available). When a free image becomes available, I'm sure someone will upload it to replace this one. Until then, this image should stand. Jenolen 23:15, 17 November 2006 (UTC)
- The policy governing the use of unfree material is WP:FUC and it forbids such usage. The paragraph regarding images on WP:COPYRIGHT seems a descritive guideline (that evens point us to WP:FU for better info). --Abu Badali 14:18, 18 November 2006 (UTC)

- I would only point out that WP:COPYRIGHT is an official policy on the English Wikipedia. If it conflicts with WP:FUC then I guess an admin will have to make a judgement call as to whether the replacing of images designed to be used, fairly and non-commercially, should be enforced in this case. Also, the material is not "unfree," as you put it. It was freely released for non-commercial use (there are no rights issues for the image when used non-commercially, as on Wikipedia), and, in fact, was designed to be used specifically in cases such as this. - WP:FUC is a policy as well, and it deals specifically with copyright of fair use images. And no, non-commercial use images are not free.--Panarjedde 15:58, 18 November 2006 (UTC)
