Hi, my name's Pat McGee. I sometimes use the handle Eloil on the internet because it is (more or less) meaningless and thus unlikely to be taken by another user already.
I'm interested in mainly in music (particularly traditional Irish music, science, technology, and mathematics. So far, my edits have mainly been of articles on Irish music, or those I come across using the random article function. I'd like to add more articles for red-linked musicians in the Music of Ireland article; so far I've created one on the banjo player Kieran Hanrahan. I'm not a huge fan of his playing style, but his radio show is very good. I've been having some trouble compiling the discograpy section, as I haven't been able to find anything on recordings by Inchiquin, Stockton’s Wing, or the Templehouse Ceili Band. For stuff I've got in progress on here see User:Eloil/sandbox
In real life, I lead a mostly idle existence in Toronto. I play Irish music on the tenor banjo, tenor guitar, and mandolin, and dabble a bit with the button accordion, keyboards and clarinet. I can sometimes be seen at the [Victory] session in Toronto on Thursday nights.
Another hobby of mine is junk collecting. I'm interested primarily in A/V junk, and every couple of weeks I'll drag home another discarded TV or VCR. You might be surprised how much of the time this stuff works perfectly; people seem to just get sick of seeing a thing around. Of course, some of the stuff will have pretty major problems. I have one TV that shows only shades of pink and green, and another that shows a single white point at the center of the screen. Only rarely do they turn out to be completely DOA.
