Elostirion
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
In J. R. R. Tolkien's fictional world of Middle-earth, Elostirion is the tallest of the three towers that stood on the Tower Hills.
Elostirion, as well as the two unnamed towers, was supposedly built by Gil-galad, High King of the Elves in Middle-earth, in honour of Elendil who came to Middle-earth in sorrow and great loss. Afterwards Elendil often came to the tower, for he set on it one of the palantíri of Arnor, the one that could look far beyond the sea. Elostirion endured for millennia after the death of Gil-galad and Elendil, under the care of Círdan and the Elves of Lindon; but the palantír that it once held was taken to the Blessed Realm when Elrond and company sailed away at the end of the Third Age.
