Elmdale is a city in Chase County, Kansas, United States. The population was 50 at the 2000 census.

Elmdale is located at 38°22′23″N, 96°38′46″W (38.372994, -96.645976)GR1.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 0.4 km² (0.2 mi²), all land.

As of the censusGR2 of 2000, there were 50 people, 25 households, and 11 families residing in the city. The population density was 113.6/km² (300.9/mi²). There were 36 housing units at an average density of 81.8/km² (216.7/mi²). The racial makeup of the city was 100.00% White. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 4.00% of the population.

There were 25 households out of which 20.0% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 40.0% were married couples living together, and 56.0% were non-families. 48.0% of all households were made up of individuals and 20.0% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.00 and the average family size was 2.91.

In the city the population was spread out with 20.0% under the age of 18, 6.0% from 18 to 24, 22.0% from 25 to 44, 34.0% from 45 to 64, and 18.0% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 47 years. For every 100 females there were 108.3 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 81.8 males.

The median income for a household in the city was $21,250, and the median income for a family was $22,250. Males had a median income of $22,917 versus $12,083 for females. The per capita income for the city was $13,083. There were no families and 19.2% of the population living below the poverty line, including no under eighteens and none of those over 64.
