Elizabeth Foreman Lewis

Elizabeth Foreman Lewis (May 24, 1892August 7, 1958), was an American children's book author.

She was born in Baltimore, Maryland and attended the Maryland Institute of Fine Arts before becoming a missionary and teacher. There, she met her husband, John Abraham Lewis, and they got married in 1921. When she left China due to an illness, she took up being an author-with great success. Her first book, Young Fu of the Upper Yangtze, based on her Chinese adventures, won the 1933 Newbery Award.
