Eliza Rachel

Eliza Rachel (1821 - 1858) was a French actress and reportedly a great tragédienne. She was born in Switzerland, of Jewish parents. She made her début in Paris in 1838, and soon became famous as the interpreter of the principal characters in the masterpieces of Racine and Corneille.
