Elite Xtreme Combat

Elite Xtreme Combat, also known as EliteXC, is a U.S.-based mixed martial arts (MMA) organization. It was founded as a partnership between Showtime Networks Inc. (a CBS Company) and Pro Elite, Inc. (PELE.PK), and officially announced on December 14th, 2006.[1] It is headquartered in Los Angeles, California.

The partnership to form EliteXC was announced on November 13th, 2006. [2] The first major event occurred Saturday, February 10th, 2007, at 10:00PM EST at the DeSoto Civic Center in Southaven, Mississippi. Fighters Frank Shamrock and Renzo Gracie fought in the main event.

[edit] EliteXC 1 - Destiny

The first EliteXC Event ("Destiny") was announced unnamed on November 13th, 2006. It took place Saturday, February 10th, 2007, at 10:00PM EST at the DeSoto Civic Center in Southaven, Mississippi, and was live on Showtime in the US and on The Fight Network in Canada.

The fight card was finalized with less than one month to go before the debut event. The televised portion of the fight card included: Frank Shamrock vs. Renzo Gracie in the main event. Wesley Correira vs. Antonio Silva in a heavyweight bout; middleweights David Loiseau vs. Joey Villasenor; women’s Gina Carano vs. Julie Kedzie; and lightweights K.J. Noons vs. Charles Bennett.

The undercard of EliteXC #1 was streamed free of charge via ivtasp.com starting at 7 P.M. EST. Heavy site traffic stopped a number of fans from viewing the fight, but many others were able to successfully view the event. As well, an "online chat" that was displayed under the message board, but numerous users complained in various message boards that 1) their comments were not getting through and 2) the comments that were getting through were either "plants" or hand-selected to be pro-EliteXC.
