Elite Wrestling Revolution

Elite Wrestling Revolution (EWR) was an independent Canadian wrestling promotion, based out of Quebec City. Founded by Eric "Nightmare Manson" Picard & partner Patrick Larue in January 2004, the promotion was born from the ashes of its predecessor, Canadian Championship Wrestling (CCW), previously owned by legendary Quebec wrestler Sunny War Cloud (Robert Rancourt). It is now owned by Eric Picard, Claude Provost, and Jean-Philippe Gilbert.

Rather than characters and gimmicks, the emphasis was put on wrestling ability and athleticism, importing such talented Montreal-based wrestlers as Kevin Steen, Excess, and El Generico, to combine with Quebec's own talented Hell Storm, Dave Silva, Giovanni, and Damian Steele. Kevin Steen would go on to become the first EWR Champion.

EWR's defining event was a show called Revolution 1.0, which featured the appearance of indy legend and TNA regular "The Fallen Angel" Christopher Daniels, who fought EWR Champion Kevin Steen in a non-title bout.

After about a year and a half of activity, the promotion closed its doors on November 5th 2005 with "Elite 8 2K5", a tournament style event pitting eight of the promotion's top wrestlers. Kevin Steen emerged as the winner, defeating EWR champion Petey Williams to claim the tournament and title, in essence being the promotion's first and last champion.
