[edit] About Eli

Eli arrived in the village – just in time to witness the terrifying King's River development house collapse – no one was that pleased to see Eli, even his brother Marlon.

In fact, Marlon was the person least enthused by his younger sibling's re-emergence and it was clear that Eli had gotten them both into plenty of mischief in the past.

And it wasn't long before Eli was causing havoc for the Dingle family. When his cousin Sam was facing the terrible prospect of seeing his terminally ill wife Alice die an agonizing death, Marlon and Eli stepped in to help.

Without telling his brother what it was for, Marlon begged Eli to get hold of a lethal amount of morphine which Sam then administered to Alice.

Although she died with dignity, when Dingle patriarch Zak discovered Eli had been responsible for getting Sam the drugs, he went mad. He banished the younger man from the homestead and warned him never to darken their doorstep again. Eli left but he was soon back again.

Having gotten involved in a sticky situation with some very violent men, Eli hid away in the woods until Sam discovered him. Frightened that his presence would get his family into trouble, Eli continued to stick to his woodland hideaway but disaster was around the corner.

When the two heavies who'd been searching for him identified Marlon as Eli's brother, they beat him senseless and robbed the Woolpack – leaving the lanky chef and his wife Donna terrified.

Determined to put an end to the nightmare, Eli concocted a risky plan to frame the two thugs for an armed raid at Viv Hope's post office. Although his scheme worked, heavily pregnant Viv was left petrified and Eli had plenty to feel bad about.

However, thanks to Sam, Zak had softened his stance against Eli and he returned to village life.

But it didn't take him long to bring more trouble home when he started pursuing teenager Jasmine Thomas and got her drunk, nearly losing Woolpack landlady Val Lambert her licence.

On Christmas Day 2006, the night Tom King was murdered Eli stole some valuables from Home Farm, including what police believe to be the weapon that killed Tom.
