Lake El'gygytgyn (Russian Эльгыгытгын) is located on the Chukchi Peninsula in north-east Siberia. It is approximately 15 km across and 175 m deep, and sits in a meteorite impact crater created 3.6 million years ago (Pliocene). The diameter of the crater is 18 km.

The lake is of particular interest to scientists because it has never been covered by glaciers. This has allowed the uninterrupted build-up of a layer of sediment 400 m thick at the bottom of the lake, which records information on historical climate change.
