Electric Honey (label)

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Electric Honey is a record label run by students studying an HNC in Music Industry Management at Stow College in Glasgow, Scotland. Every year they choose an act to sign and release a record as part of their course. The labels first real success came in 1996 with the release of Belle & Sebastian's Tigermilk (To date the only full length album released on the label) It was released in limited numbers (as with all the labels releases) & is therefore seen as a collectors item, fetching up to £900 on internet auction sites. Other artists that have had success after initially being with Electric Honey are Snow Patrol (then known as Polar Bear) & Biffy Clyro.

Stow College students also run the labels Gdansk Recordings, which focuses on releasing electronic music, and Root8 Recordings, which releases world music.
