Elazığ Province is a province of Turkey with its seat in the city of Elazığ. This province is also the source of the Euphrates river. THe province has a population of 595,307 as of 2006. The population of the province was 569,616 in 2000 and 498,225 in 1990. The total area of the province is 9,153 km², 826 km² of which is covered by reservoirs and natural lakes. The current governor of the province is Muammer MUŞMAL (since 2006).
