[edit] Achievements

El Rancho was awarded the California Distinguished School Award in 2005.[1]

Also, El Rancho's Science Olympiad team has excelled in competition, achieving the distinction of having gone to the national tournament for nine years in a row, from 1997 to 2005. El Rancho also has a very talented Musical Theatre group. The young performers have three different plays every school year: a Patriotic show, a Broadway Dinner Theatre, and a Star Search show(talent show). [2] [3] [4] [5] [6] [7] [8] [9] However, in 2006 El Rancho's Science Olympiad team did not achieve first place at the state competition at Tesoro High School, so the team did not go to nationals that year.[10] In the 2007 Science Olympiad Regional Competition, El Rancho's team won first place overall, and first place in 8 events of: Anatomy, Don't Bug me, Metric Mastery, Road Scholar, Simple Machines, Solar System, Wheeled Vehicle, and Write It Do It. The team is working hard for the state competition on April 14th,at California State Long Beach.
