El País is the leading newspaper company in the Pacific region of Colombia. Its headquarters are located in Cali.

The company was part of a bigger corporation that belonged to Alvaro Jose Lloreda and his brothers which included candle, iron,oil; soap companies. After family problems each son was left with one of these four companies. El Pais ws left to Alvaro Jose LLoreda which then married Mercedes Caicedo having three children(Rodrigo Lloreda, an ex candidate for the Colombian presidency and other political jobs, ALvaro Jose lloreda jr. who is an important business man;also Elvira Lloreda). The complany now worth approximately $100,000,000 usd would not be sold for more generations to come, serving all the Cali readers and other Colombian states.
