El Cajón Dam

The El Cajón Dam (in Spanish, Dique El Cajón) is a dam in the center-west of the province of Córdoba, Argentina, near Capilla del Monte, at . It is built on the course of the Dolores River, at about 910 m above mean sea level. The wall of the dam is 39 m tall, and creates an artificial lake with a surface area of 1.45–1.8 km² and a volume of 8 million m³.
El Cajón is made of concrete and lies on granitic terrain. It was built between 1987 and 1993. It is employed as a reservoir of fresh water, to regulate the flow of the river, for fishing (carp and silverside), sailing, canoeing, and windsurfing.
